Employers increasing number of permanent positions - report

A new report shows that the fourth quarter of last year saw a 108% increase in job placements on the same period for the previous year.

A new report shows that the fourth quarter of last year saw a 108% increase in job placements on the same period for the previous year.

It also revealed a 5.4% quarter-on-quarter growth compared to the third quarter of 2010.

The figures compiled by Irish recruitment group Sigmar also indicate an increase in job placements for a fifth consecutive quarter.

Sigmar's report also indicates quarter-on-quarter growth throughout the year which demonstrates continued drive within companies to grow - despite the recent Budget cutbacks and a negative economic outlook.

Sigmar Director Robert Mac Giolla Phádraig said there were now indications of stability in the employment sector.

"The trend over the last 18 months has been towards flexible recruitment solutions, in terms of contracts and temporary recruitment, he said, "but in the final quarter of 2010, there was a move towards permanent employment, which gives an indication of further stability in the employment sector."
