Three men have been arrested following a fatal shooting in Cork tonight.

The victim was a man in his late 30s, who was shot in a rural area close to the village of Blarney.

His body remains at the scene of the shooting on what is known locally as the Glen Road, linking Waterloo to Grenagh.

Gardaí said a number of shots were fired during the incident, which happened at around 4pm.

Tonight, the scene of the shooting, and a van parked outside a nearby graveyard, have been sealed off by Garda.

A post-mortem is due to be carried out tomorrow on the body of the dead man at Cork University Hospital.

Three men have been arrested by Gardai, and two are being held at Guarranbraher Garda Station, one at Mayfield

Detectives investigating the shooting are appealing for anyone with information to contact them
