South Korea coach Guus Hiddink claims he has not spoken to PSV Eindhoven about becoming the Dutch club's new manager.
PSV president Harry van Raay insists Hiddink has agreed to return to the club he led to the European Cup in 1988.
Hiddink claims he has not spoken to anyone and is solely focused on Korea's World Cup quarter-final against Spain in Gwangju.
The 55-year-old Dutchman, whose 18-month contract with Korea expires after the tournament, said: "Of course there are always going to be rumours and things going on.
"But I have said to everyone that I will not talk to anyone during the World Cup.
"I am focused here on what I have been doing for the last one-and-a-half years in the World Cup.
"We have a big game tomorrow and I'm just concentrating on that."
Hiddink's version of events differs greatly from van Raay's and he claims the former Real Madrid coach has agreed by email to return to the Philips Stadium.
Van Raay is supposedly travelling to Korea and claims the ex-Holland coach could be announced as PSV's new manager by Monday.
"I'm very confident that we will come to a final agreement," said van Raay.
"When looking for the successor of Eric Gerets, I wanted to find someone with an opposing character.
"It did not take long before I wanted to talk to Hiddink as his way of dealing with people was the main reason for our desire to attract him to Eindhoven."
