Irish give to charity more than any other country

Irish people are more likely to give to charity than any other population in the world.

Irish people are more likely to give to charity than any other population in the world.

The 'World Giving Index' shows 79% of those polled here said they had done so the previous month, while 66 per cent also said they had helped a stranger and 34% volunteered their time to a good cause.

On those three main points, Ireland scored 60% - ahead of the UK on 51% and Denmark on 49%.
