Russia criticises decision to expel diplomat

A Russian government official has threatened to retaliate after one of their diplomats was expelled from Ireland.

It emerged yesterday that the person was fired and asked to leave the country after an investigation revealed Russian involvement in the forgery of Irish passports.

Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister today described the decision as "a groundless and unfriendly act", and said it would not go without a corresponding reaction.
