An Egyptian delegation was due in Gaza today to press Cairo's effort to arrange a truce to end three years of bloody Middle East violence, Egyptian officials said.
The delegation was meeting Palestinian faction leaders, according to officials from the Egyptian Embassy in Gaza, to follow up on talks held on Monday in the West Bank by Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman.
A truce would be a key to restarting the frozen US-backed “road map” peace plan, which leads to a Palestinian state in 2005.
Talks stalled several months ago because of violence and internal Palestinian political turmoil.
