The Taoiseach has said that he is downbeat about a breakthrough on the restoration of devolution in the North.

Speaking in Killarney, Mr Ahern said that next week would be crucial in deciding if assembly elections should go ahead.

Mr Ahern said that decisions would be made in the next week.

He also indicated his support for one-off housing.

He said children should be allowed build houses on their parents property.
