Impressive Newmarket maiden winner Moudez is in flying form ahead of his bid for glory in the Les Ambassadeurs Club Autumn Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.
This Group Three event has proven a rich source of future talent in recent years and Newmarket handler David Simcock hopes his promising colt can add his name to the impressive roll of honour.
The son of Xaar made a big impression on his racecourse debut when he ran out a two-length winner under Jamie Spencer at Headquarters.
He has enjoyed a short rest since making that fine start and Simcock feels he is in great shape to put his best foot forward at the weekend.
“The Autumn Stakes is still very much the plan,” confirmed the Newmarket handler.
“Preparations have gone very smoothly since his last race, he’s a very straightforward horse and he’s improved from his last run.
“We haven’t had a problem, we just put him to sleep for a couple of weeks after the race and then brought him back and we’re very very pleased with him.”
Moudez will step up in trip from seven furlongs on Saturday.
And while Simcock thinks race conditions will suit, he has yet to finalise riding plans.
“He’ll appreciate the mile and the ground should be absolutely ideal for him,” he explained.
“We don’t yet know who’ll be riding him as jockeys plans are still up in the air at the moment.”
