The ICMSA has warned that a potential crisis in the dairy industry can only be solved at European level.
A milk summit in Co Cork heard today that incomes for dairy farmers are under threat unless the European Union boosts export funds.
ICMSA president Pat O’Rourke said: “Dairy farmers income has plummeted by up to 30% in recent months and we are hoping that at European level, they will increase internal export funds which we would hope, if implemented fully, give an immediate increase in the price per gallon being paid to farmers.”
