Ireland’s athletes have picked up two more top ten places at the European Cross-Country Championships in the Spanish town of Toro.

Linda Byrne came sixth in the women's under-23 race, and Andrew Ledwith was tenth in the men's under-23, when at one stage Ireland had three of the top seven.

Meathman Ledwith had mixed feelings about the race, saying it was a good finish, but it could have been better: "It's a long race and anything can happen. Lads started slipping in the last lap. We may have underestimated the wind out there. The last lap took its toll."
