The DUP leader Ian Paisley has snubbed US president George Bush by turning down an invitation to the White House.

The DUP leader Ian Paisley has snubbed US president George Bush by turning down an invitation to the White House.

Mr Paisley had been invited to the St Patrick's Day reception along with the leaders of the other main Northern political parties.

The DUP have been told there will be no opportunity for a private meeting with the president and Mr Paisley said he would not attend a purely social event.
