Woman injured in Dublin shooting

A teenager was seriously injured when two masked men opened her caravan door and shot her in the leg, gardaí said today.

A teenager was seriously injured when two masked men opened her caravan door and shot her in the leg, gardaí said today.

Officers said the two men, wearing balaclavas and armed with a shotgun, drove up to an unofficial caravan site in Ringsend, Dublin, just after midnight.

They opened the door of one of the caravans and fired once, hitting the 18-year-old woman in the leg.

A man who was also in the caravan was not injured.

The attackers drove away and the woman was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital, where she was due to undergo surgery later today.

Her injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

Gardaí were to examine the scene later today and were examining the possibility the incident could be linked to another recent assault.

Nobody was arrested in connection with the shooting.
