Sinn Féin has called for the Dáil to return from its summer break to address organ donations.
The party wants TDs to be summoned back to discuss how Ireland has implemented an EU law on organ donor registrations.
The Seanad is being recalled next week for a similar debate, after Fianna Fáil collected enough signatures to trigger a recall.
Sinn Féin's health spokesman Caoimhghin Ó Caoláin said a debate on Ireland's organ donation system can't wait until after the break.
"It's of huge importance to the Irish Kidney Association and those who are dependent on dialysis currently – and those who are awaiting the various organ transplants," he said.
