British sheep farmers are due to be given a boost when a multi-million pound advertising campaign promoting the merits of lamb is launched.
The Meat and Livestock Commission is behind the promotion aimed at encouraging shoppers to buy some of the 1.5 million surplus sheep that cannot be exported because of restrictions imposed following the foot-and-mouth outbreak.
A spokesman said the television and radio campaign, initially costing £2.7m, would begin on Monday.
