Gardaí have arrested three people following a robbery at a shop in Cork yesterday.
Two masked raiders, one armed with a hammer, entered a shop on St. Marys Road in Cork city at around 4.25pm.
One of the raiders threatened a female shop assistant and forced her to hand over a quantity of cash from the till.
Both raiders left the shop and ran down Strawhall onto Farran Street, where they got into a small silver hatchback car.
At around 5.10pm, a Garda patrol car intercepted the car at St. John’s Well and Gardaí arrested two men in their 20s and a woman in her 20s.
They were brought to Mayfield and the Bridewell Garda Stations where they were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
All three have now been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
