Smertin stays at Pompey

Russian midfielder Alexei Smertin will be staying with Portsmouth until the end of the season.

Russian midfielder Alexei Smertin will be staying with Portsmouth until the end of the season.

Chelsea have confirmed they will not be exercising their right to recall Smertin from his loan spell at Fratton Park during the January transfer window.

Smertin will be eligible to play in Pompey’s FA Cup third round clash with Blackpool on Saturday.
