Management at Dublin's Mater Hospital has today appealed to the public to attend a GP before going to its accident & emergency department.

Management at Dublin's Mater Hospital has today appealed to the public to attend a GP before going to its accident & emergency department.

The hospital has warned of long waiting times due to high numbers attending the facility today.

Earlier today, nurses had reported over 350 patients on trolleys around the country - with 27 at the Mater alone.
