Labour leader to visit west of Ireland today

Labour Party leader Ruairi Quinn will travel to the west of Ireland today to canvass on behalf of his party’s local candidates.

Labour Party leader Ruairi Quinn will travel to the west of Ireland today to canvass on behalf of his party’s local candidates.

In Galway, where Michael D Higgins is widely tipped to retain his seat, Mr Quinn will visit a training centre and project for the disabled before speaking to staff at the Galway Rape Crisis Centre.

The Labour campaign will then move to Ennis to support local candidate Michael Cauley before travelling to Limerick, where Jan O’Sullivan is hoping to retain her seat.

It will also stop off in Tullamore, Co Offaly, and Mullingar, Co Westmeath, later in the day.
