Australian rugby star answers urgent request; rushes to bedside of seriously ill fan

With all the bad news going around, it’s nice to see a reminder that there are many good people in the world.

When Mahalia Murphy put out a plea on behalf of her seriously-ill best friend, she found that one of those good people is retired rugby league player and TV personality Beau Ryan.

Mahalia’s friend Kia Lettice is fighting cancer in Sydney and was told by doctors that her condition was deteriorating.

Mahalia asked for help to bring joy to what could be Lia’s last hours, saying: “Any assistance to boost my friend up? She wants Greg Inglis or beau Ryan To come see her. If everyone can share this or get in contact for me this would be much appreciated.”

To his immense credit, Beau responded almost immediately, telling Mahalia he was on his way.

They both shared pictures of his visit to the hospital.

“Beau Ryan you are a true legend man. Can't thank you enough for this moment,” Mahalia wrote when sharing the images.

In recent hours she added an update on Kia’s condition: “She is extremely sleepy but still responding well at times. She is incredibly strong as She continues to fight this battle!”
