Annual production drops 2.9% across all industries

Third-quarter figures for industrial production in the manufacturing sector was up 0.8% on the Q2 figure but production across all industries was down 2.9%

Third-quarter figures for industrial production in the manufacturing sector was up 0.8% on the Q2 figure but production across all industries was down 2.9% on the 2002 figure.

So called "modern industries" - the high-tech and chemical sectors - showed an annual decrease for September 2003 of 4.6%.

However, the "traditional sector" saw an increase in production of 2.9%.

Industrial turnover, meanwhile, was up 1.3% for manufacturing industries for Q3 on the Q2 figure.

The year-on-year figure was 4.2% lower in September 2003 compared to September 2002 figure.
