Iraq is reported to have executed its first prisoners since the fall of Saddam Hussein.

Three men were hanged this morning after they were found guilty of murder, kidnap and rape.

Meanwhile funerals have been taking place for the victims of yesterday's stampede in Baghdad.

The incident has raised sectarian tensions within Iraq - Shia leaders accused Sunnis of triggering the stampede.

There were reports that the stampede was sparked by rumours of the presence of a suicide bomber in a large crowd of Shia pilgrims, though many of those caught up in the stampede said they did not hear that rumour and blamed the chaos on security forces' failure to manage the crowds.
