The Welsh League side, who’d never won a tie in Europe in 11 previous attempts, trounced Pat Fenlon’s abject side, who led 1-0 from the first leg in Dublin, to ease through to a lucrative Third Qualifying round tie with Belgian giants Anderlecht.

Sluggish Bohs were stunned virtually from the off as TNS enjoyed the perfect start, the visitors levelling the tie on aggregate, after just five minutes.

Craig Jones was played through and out-muscled the Bohs defence before dinking a shot over the advancing Barry Murphy to put TNS in front.

Bohs were then caught on the counterattack to concede a second eight minutes later. Home skipper Steve Evans sent winger Matt Berkeley away on the left and his clever backheel flick picked out Matt Williams who shot a low drive past Murphy.

It was a shocking start for Bohs that you thought couldn’t get any worse, but it did just that on 20 minutes when TNS scored again.

It got worse for Bohs when the impressive Evans found Chris Sharp on the right.

He worked a one-two with Jones to get through on goal and rifle to the bottom right corner of the net.

Gypsies' boss Fenlon made two changes at the break and it looked to have made an impact as midfielder Paul Keegan shot against the TNS bar six minutes in before bringing a super save from keeper Paul Harrison just before the hour.

But TNS weathered the storm and scored again in a rare second-half attack in the 75th minute.

Evans won a header from Scott Ruscoe’s corner. Murphy could only parry and Williams scrambled home his second goal of the night.
