Austin Powers actor Robert Wagner is suing Columbia Pictures claiming he and his late wife Natalie Wood are owed half the profits from the two Charlie’s Angels films.
According to his lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Wagner and Wood made an agreement in 1973 which gave them equal shares of the profits from any television series based on an idea they submitted.
Wagner and Wood subsequently submitted the idea for the Charlie’s Angels series, the suit says.
Wagner and trusts owning rights belonging to Wood allegedly have not been given accountings of any money from the film versions of the series and Wagner is seeking unspecified damages and an accounting.
The first Charlie’s Angels film made €231m worldwide and the sequel has so far managed €95m in its first three weeks of release.
