The Irish Cancer Society says it Is extremely disappointed at the Minister for Agriculture's opposition to the smoking ban in pubs and restaurants due to come into effect next January.

But the Cancer Society claims the experience of other countries shows such concerns are groundless, and are calling on the Minister for Health to push ahead with his plans.
