Football final 'not about revenge', says O'Sullivan

Kerry football captain Darran O'Sullivan says that the prospect of an All-Ireland medal is all the motivation his side need.

Kerry captain Darran O'Sullivan says is looking forward to captaining Kerry to All-Ireland glory today, having already climbed the steps of the Hogan Stand to take Division 1 league honours this year.

This afternoon will see the Kingdom take part in their sixth All-Ireland final in succession, with Kerry last tasting Sam Maguire success two years ago by beating Cork in the decider.

O'Sullivan says his side are eagerly anticipating this battle with their Munster rivals.

"We are certainly looking forward to it (the final) and after the performances this year in the qualifiers we hope to give our fans something to cheer about," the Ulster Bank official said.

Kerry lost to Cork in a Munster final replay earlier this Summer but O'Sullivan says that loss does not offer an added incentive for victory this afternoon.

"It's not about revenge," he said. "It's an All-Ireland final and an All-Ireland medal is at stake and all you want to do is win.

"The fact that it is Cork adds another twist to it and we know a lot about each other. They will rightly go in as favourites this year because of our form. There is an All-Ireland final medal at stake and both of us are hungry for it so it should be a good final hopefully."
