Farmers protested outside the Dail today over falling incomes - and warned 4,000 jobs are at risk in the coming weeks.

Hundreds of members of the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association staged the protest to push the Government to set up a commission on farm incomes.

It's estimated that there are about 50,000 jobs in the processing and agricultural sector in Ireland.

The ICMSA wants a commission set up immediately because these jobs are in danger.

A spokesman for the group said that not only are farmers being driven from their land but there is a risk that 4,000 jobs could be lost in the coming weeks.
