Reds lead Bolton at the break

Liverpool 2 Bolton 0

Liverpool 2 Bolton 0

Fernando Torres struck his 11th goal in 16 games to ease Liverpool into control at Anfield against a spirited Bolton.

Liverpool were ahead on 16 minutes when a glancing header from defender Sami Hyypia nestled in the bottom corner of the net.

Bolton came back fighting and Nicolas Anelka should have equalised when he found the ball at his feet inside the box after a mix-up between Jose Reina and Jamie Carragher.

But seconds from the break Torres latched on to a Steven Gerrard through ball to chip in the second.
