Alex Ferguson has doubts over Wes Brown and Mikael Silvestre for Manchester United’s must-win Premiership clash with Leeds at Old Trafford.
Silvestre picked up a knee injury during Sunday’s Worthington Cup final defeat by Liverpool, while Brown suffered a recurrence of his recent hamstring problem.
If neither makes it, skipper Roy Keane could again be pressed into emergency service alongside Rio Ferdinand in defence.
Diego Forlan is hopeful of being in the squad after limping out of the Champions League win over Juventus with an ankle injury and Quinton Fortune also comes into contention after recovering from a broken leg.
Provisional squad: Barthez, Carroll, Ricardo, G Neville, Brown, Ferdinand, Silvestre, O’Shea, Beckham, P Neville, Scholes, Keane, Veron, Butt, Giggs, van Nistelrooy, Solskjaer, Fortune, Forlan, Roche, Richardson, Pugh, Fletcher.
