Two crowded boats collided on a lake straddling the Congo-Rwanda border today, capsizing one of the vessels with 80 people believed still trapped aboard.
All on board the sunken ferry Karibu were feared dead, said Anani Kulimushi of the Red Cross.
Numerous people on board the other vessel jumped into the lake in panic and many are feared drowned, Kulimushi said.
The accident happened off the lake’s northern port of Goma, in Congo.
