Brendan Rodgers has been criticised for his transfer decisions in the past but, if reports today are correct, he is about to do a very decent piece of business for Liverpool.
The Guardian reports this morning that Liverpool are about to sign James Milner on a free transfer from Manchester City.
The England international is choosing regular first-team football at Anfield ahead of a substitute role at the Etihad.
City had hoped to keep the versatile player and offered him a four year deal at £165,000 a week, but Milner has refused the deal and becomes a free agent on July 1.
Arsenal and Roma are both also interested in the player, but he is thought to favour Liverpool as he wishes to remain in the north west of England.
Liverpool fans have cautiously welcomed the news.
James Milner assisted 7 goals in 14/15, the same as Silva and more than Ramsey (6), Coutinho (5), Ozil (5), Rooney (5) and Lallana (3) #LFC

Can understand a lack of 'wow' factor re Milner, but he's made 115 PL apps in the last 4 years for a team that finished 1-2-1-2 in that era.

Milner's a good player tbh, very underrated, does a lot more than Navas

People will still moan. But Ings, Milner & Clyne for under £20m would be a decent start to #LFC's summer transfer business if all 3 come off
