66-year-old man dies in Garda custody

Detectives in Kilkenny are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man at a garda station in the city this morning.

Detectives in Kilkenny are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man at a garda station in the city this morning.

The 66-year-old, who was from the city, was found dead in a cell at around 5am today after being arrested last night for public order offences.

A doctor was called and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kilkenny gardaí said a full investigation had been launched into the death and a post mortem would be carried out later today.
