Talks between Israeli and Palestinian leaders due to take place this week have been cancelled.

It follows twenty-four hours of violence. In the worst attack, a suicide bombing yesterday killed nine Israelis.

The attack prompted reprisal attacks on the homes of suspected Palestinian terrorists.

Israeli Foreign Minister Shimon Peres has these words of justification.

"Many of them do feel that they are helping their families by committing suicide, which is terrible. So the message that we want to get about is that it won't help your families."
