Bohemians striker Glen Crowe has retained his place in Republic of Ireland manager Brian Kerr’s squad of 23 players for the two European Championship qualifying games against Albania and Georgia next month.
Crowe was a member of the squad of 22 players Kerr had in Dublin last week for a five-day training session as part of the build-up to the two crucial Euro ties at Lansdowne Road.
Crowe won his first senior cap for the Republic against Greece in the friendly in Athens last November and gained his second cap in the friendly against Norway at Lansdowne Road on April 30 last when he came on as a late second half substitute for Robbie Keane.
Back in the squad are Hibernian goalkeeper Nick Colgan and Glasgow Celtic’s Colin Healy.
Also included are goalkeeper Joe Murphy (West Bromwich Albion) and Steven Reid (Millwall), both of whom joined the training squad late last week having remained with their clubs for treatment earlier in the week.
With the return of Nick Colgan, Port Vale goalkeeper Dean Delaney drops out. He had been called into the training squad.
Steve Finnan (Fulham) and Andy O’Brien (Newcastle United) are both missing from the squad.
Both players did not travel to Dublin last week because of injury, Finnan with a pelvic complaint and O’Brien because he was recovering from the effects of surgery on his broken nose.
Both are still considered not fit enough to join the squad for the two Euro games.
Ireland meet Albania on Saturday, June 7 and then face Georgia the following Wednesday with a 7.30pm start.
The squad will assemble in the Nuremore Hotel in Monaghan on Saturday next and will be based there until the following Wednesday when they will return to their Dublin base at the Portmarnock Hotel and Golf Links in Portmarnock.
They will remain at this location until after the Georgia game on June 11.
The full squad is: Given, Colgan, Murphy, Carr, Harte, O’Shea, Dunne, Breen, Cunningham, Carsley, Holland, Kinsella, Quinn, Kilbane, McPhail, Healy, Reid, Duff, Crowe, Doherty, Lee, Keane
