Gardaí in Limerick have recovered a significant amount of heroin during searches on the southside of the city.

Gardaí in Limerick have recovered a significant amount of heroin during searches on the southside of the city.

The drugs, which are believed to be worth around €100,000, were found in an area of open ground in the O'Malley Park estate.

Searches of the area are continuing and gardaí say no arrests have been made.

The search operation is specifically targeting the activites of known drugs gangs.
