Shels rue missed chances against Derry

Shels regained their five point lead at the top of the table, but will view this as two points dropped as they wasted the best opportunities in a tight match.

Shels had the better of the few chances in a dour first half.

The pick of them came on 16 minutes when Jamie Harris helped on an Owen Heary free kick and Stuart Byrne skied his shot over the top.

It was a better match into the second half with Shels again creating the better openings.

Top scorer Jason Byrne should have sealed all three points on 80 minutes but blazed wide after Derry keeper Alan Gough had parried a shot from Wes Hoolahan.
