People are being encouraged to drink sensibly this Good Friday.

Pub closures lead some people to stock up on alcohol before the day, but the Drink Aware group is encouraging drinkers to be responsible.

It takes an hour for a standard drink to leave your system, so even if you feel fine the morning after, you might still be over the limit when it comes to driving.

Chief executive Fionnuala Sheehan said a standard drink is a glass - not a pint - of stout or beer, or a small glass of wine.
