Two goals in three second half minutes saw Dundalk beat ten man Shamrock Rovers in a thriller at Oriel Park to put the Lillywhites top of the table.

A dominant Dundalk took the lead on 52 minutes when Ross Gaynor’s corner was fired home by Neale Fenn.

Two minutes later midfielder JJ Melligan doubled the lead.

Gary Twigg got a goal back for Rovers on 66mins.

But a red card for James Chambers for a second booking on 81mins ended any hope of a Hoops revival as their boss Michael O’Neill was also sent to the stand.
