Books of condolence to open for Patrick Hillery

Books of condolence for former President Patrick Hillery are due to open today at various locations in Dublin and his native Co Clare.

Books of condolence for former President Patrick Hillery are due to open today at various locations in Dublin and his native Co Clare.

Mr Hillery died following a short illness on Saturday at 84 years of age.

Books of condolence will be available at the Pro Cathedral and the Mansion House in Dublin, Ennis Library, the Paddy Hillery Library in Miltown Malbay and the Clare County Council offices in Ennis.

The former president's body is due to arrive at the Pro Cathedral tomorrow, where he will lie in state under a state funeral on Wednesday.

Requiem Mass will take place at 12 noon, with Dr Hillery being laid to rest afterwards at St Finian's Cemetery in Sutton.
