The controversial dog breeding bill has been passed in the Dáil by a considerable 42-vote majority.
The Labour Party today joined the Government in voting in favour of the legislation, which aims to regulate puppy farms.
However the former Fianna Fáil TD, Mattie McGrath, who resigned the party whip in protest at the bill - voted against it.
The legislation, which had initially been opposed by a number of government back-benchers, was heavily amended to satisfy their concerns.
