The ISEQ this afternoon maintained its strong showing from morning trading, climbing 56.18 to close at 6,764.14.
Shares in Allied Irish Bank edged 5c higher to €17.95 while Bank of Ireland performed even better, climbing 10c to €13.78.
Irish Life and Permanent was up 22c at €14.72 despite a restatement of its 2004 results to comply with new financial reporting standard saw profits 14% lower.
Anglo Irish Bank gained 17c to €11.20.
FBD shares surged considerably today, rising 82c to €28.90.
Shares in business support services group climbed 30c to €18.25 today.
Elsewhere construction shares also fared well today. CRH shares leaped 46c to €22.94 while Grafton shares climbed 12c to €9.02. Kingspan shares climbed 14c to €10.50 today.
The most traded shares today were CRH, AIB, Anglo Irish Bank, Bank of Ireland and Irish Life & Permanent.
