Mayo Mountain Rescue recovers hillwalker's body

The body of a man has been recovered in Westport by Mayo Mountain rescue in the Eriss hills.

The body of a man has been recovered in Westport by Mayo Mountain rescue in the Eriss hills.

It is believed the man was walking with his friends approximately 10 miles from Wesport before the incident.

The rescue team were called at 1pm to recover the body of the man who is believed to be in his 50's.

Both Gardaí and the rescue services believe the man died of natural causes.
