A two-year-old girl has died and two other children injured in England after a car smashed into a wall and landed on its roof.
Police said a 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of “driving offences” following the crash near the village of Horton, Dorset, yesterday.
Officers were called to reports of a “serious road traffic collision” on the B3078 at 9.20pm.
A blue MG car carrying five people had left the road and collided with a wall before overturning, Dorset Police said.
A force spokesman said: “Sadly a two-year-old girl has died. Two other children aged eight and 11 have been injured and taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not thought to be serious.”
The driver of the car and a female passenger were treated for minor injuries and shock, police said.
A force spokesman said: “A 28-year-old man from Wimborne has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences. He is currently assisting police with their inquiries.”
The two-year-old’s next of kin have been informed and the coroner has been notified, police said.
The B3078 has been closed between Witchampton and Horton to allow investigators to examine the scene, the force added.
