Two men have been arrested in connection with an assault on Irish backpacker in Australia.

Two men have been arrested in connection with an assault on Irish backpacker in Australia.

Twenty-three-year-old John Counihan was attacked by a group of men outside a hotel in Bondi six months ago.

He had been in Australia on a working holiday for about five months before the assault happened.

He was badly beaten and spent several weeks in a coma.

Detectives have now arrested two New Zealand nationals in their 20s.
