West Ham manager Glenn Roeder has hit out at Scotland boss Berti Vogts for his public criticism of defender Christian Dailly.
The German laid the blame for the embarrassing 2-2 draw in the Faroe Islands at the feet of Dailly and Everton centre-half David Weir.
Goodison Park boss David Moyes has written to the Scottish Football Association about the criticism meted out to his player.
And now Upton Park boss Roeder has criticised Vogts.
Roeder told the Evening Standard: “You don’t get credibility by publicly criticising your players.
“It was certainly not helpful. Berti has every right to criticise the players in private, but that’s the way it should stay.
“The problem is that the club managers must pick up the pieces – the criticism certainly hasn’t helped Christian.
“He is an honest, hard-working professional, and criticism of this public nature has wounded him. We could have done without it.”
