Computer giant Intel has announced that for the three months ending in June, revenue fell 24% to $6.3bn.

Computer giant Intel has announced that for the three months ending in June, revenue fell 24% to $6.3bn.

The world's largest manufacturer of computer chips blamed the slowdown in the US economy, slack PC sales and fierce competition.

The news will come as a blow to the 3,300 people Intel employs in Ireland.

The company is already discussing cost-cutting measures at its Co Kildare plant.
