Harney: VHI could make savings from hospital payments

The Fine Gael heath spokesman Dr James Reilly has said VHI premium increases are "completely unjustified" after a new report found the company could find savings elsewhere.

The Fine Gael heath spokesman Dr James Reilly has said VHI premium increases are "completely unjustified" after a new report found the company could find savings elsewhere.

The Health Minister Mary Harney has confirmed that the State health insurer could save money when it comes to what it is paying hospitals, according to the report by her Department's actuarial advisers.

Earlier this month, the VHI announced massive premium increases of up to 45% for some customers.
