Kelly rules out use of Croke Park for possible soccer play-off

It has emerged that GAA headquarters Croke Park will not be used in the event of a potential fixtures clash involving the Irish soccer and rugby teams next month.

It has emerged that GAA headquarters Croke Park will not be used in the event of a potential fixtures clash involving the Irish soccer and rugby teams next month.

If Brian Kerr's soccer squad can reach the play-offs and are drawn at home for the first-leg, that tie would directly clash with the Irish rugby team's battle with the All Blacks.

GAA President Sean Kelly said today that any attempt to switch to Croke Park at this stage would be too late:

“We have had discussion with the FAI and the IRFU about the logistics of having games here in 2007. an awful lot of things have to be done to allow that situation to occur – it wouldn’t be possible to do it at the drop of a hat.”
