Formula One looks unlikely to have an 11th team in 2006 after the Super Aguri squad were left off the FIA’s entry list.
Ex-driver Aguri Suzuki had hoped to launch a new Formula One team, backed by Honda, next year but despite lodging an entry with world governing body the FIA, they have not made it on to the 2006 entry list.
That failure is a blow for Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson, who were tipped to drive for Super Aguri next season.
Elsewhere on the entry list, BAR’s new name is confirmed as Honda Racing F1 Team after the Japanese car maker bought out the Brackley team, while Midland, who were Jordan, are registered as MF1.
Their driver line-up is completed by the expected addition of Tiago Monteiro, who will partner Christijan Albers after agreeing another year with the Silverstone-based team.
McLaren have yet to confirm their new title sponsors but today’s entry list reveals an announcement is expected at some point, listing the team name as “TBA [to be announced] McLaren Mercedes”.
