'Lack of childcare facilities fuelling poverty in Tallaght'

A support group for women has claimed that childcare is available to less than 5% of children living in the Tallaght area of Dublin.

A support group for women has claimed that childcare is available to less than 5% of children living in the Tallaght area of Dublin.

An Cosan said there were 8,000 children living in Tallaght, but just 360 childcare places.

It said this lack of childcare was fuelling poverty in the area by preventing parents from working and forcing them to become dependent on social welfare.
