Portland youngsters were asked by cable channel TV3 what suggestions they would give the new president.

The question brought more responses than any other in the series, with almost 300 pupils offering tips.

They ranged from "I think there should be a law saying no guns in the house if you have little kids" to "Stop killing people in Texas."

The TV station plans to forward the responses to Bush, reports Boston.com.

Year six student Chad Henry offered a fundraising idea: "Cut down on taxes and find a new way of getting money out of the American people."

Randy Norton, who is in year four, did not pull any punches. "Give Gore the job and lower the price of toys and homes," he demanded, adding: "My friends and I would like to sleep over some time if you are not busy."
